Company member Jennifer Hightower (or Jenny to most of us) writes the next blog post as she is deciding what the next step will be for her. The life of a dancer quickly becomes a puzzle, trying to fit all the different pieces of work, money, passion, time and social life into something that works as one. Jenny is still trying to decide how to rearrange her puzzle to suit her changing needs.
I felt it was a great opportunity to highlight a service that helps many dancers cope with transition: http://www.careertransition.org/
Dance has always remained a constant presence in my life. It challenges me physically and and creatively, and has been a grounding force in my life.
I love that Hannah’s choreography is demanding- and I love the feeling I have at the end of a performance when I’ve just accomplished and tackled the choreography! The dance studio has always felt like home to me, a place where I’m able to release energy or whatever I’m feeling into movement. And I love the feeling of being able to look around and see such great energy produced in a room when you are moving and breathing and sharing the space with people who are just as passionate about what they’re doing as you are.
